Log Cabins
Log cabins use solid interlocking timber walls, typically 19mm to 44mm thick. They are heavier, warmer and more expensive than a standard shed, and are the usual choice for a garden room, hobby space or home office that needs to be usable through a British winter. Wall thickness is the single most important specification to compare.

Buying advice for log cabins
- 28mm is the practical minimum for regular use; 44mm is better if you plan to heat the building.
- Log cabins need a level, load-bearing base — normally concrete.
- Allow for settlement: cabins move seasonally, so fixings and shelving must be fitted to allow it.
